gnome-logs software package provides viewer for the systemd journal., you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-logs
gnome-logs is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-logs package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-logs *
You will get with gnome-logs package name, version, architecture and description in a table
